You can hear the water splurging up the chimney, rather than a little splash of water with each perk. This happy percolator gave us such a nice little pleasure in the mornings, but after about six months it became difficult to make a decent pot of coffee. We washed it between each pot, and we regularly cleaned it with coffee cleaner and/or white vinegar. Whereas the Faberware makes little popping sounds as it brews, the Presto gurgles. I initially thought the Faberware looked nicer, but the spout on the Presto pours so nice, that now I like its looks, too (form follows function). I contacted Faberware, and they sent me a new chimney()., but it didn't help.
That seems like better engineering. It was like tea. Looking inside, the Presto has a much deeper well beneath the chimney. We finally gave up and tried another brand. For three years now, we've been getting great coffee from a Presto 12-cup. The presto spout also pours coffee much more nicely than the Faberware.
The Presto just seems to have had better engineers--a great functioning coffee maker.
I have tried Mr. I owned the same pot for 10 years so it was a no brainer to purchase another one. This is the best coffee pot for your money. Coffee and Kuerig like systems and I didn't like the way they did not get the coffee hot enough. The coffee pot brews a consistently hot, delicious cup of coffee. My pot gets a work out day in an day out and never lets me down. You can adjust the amount of coffee in the Farberware to reach the brewed taste that suits you - weak, strong or in between. Great coffee pot.
THIS IS A GREAT PRODUCT-I'VE USED FARBERWARE FOR OVER 35 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THEM--MY ONLY COMPLAINT IS THAT THE CORD IS TOO SHORT SO I HAD TOBUY AN EXTENSION CORD.
enough of those drip things that give you lukewarm at best. a perfect transaction. We finally have HOT coffee. This gem is the best. gives us 2 nice cups each.
I've tried many different ways to brew good coffee, but always return to stainless steel and Farberware. Keeping the pot full and ready for company works perfectly for me. Plastic and aluminum give even the best brews that yucky aftertaste. This one not only brews a great cup of coffee, it keeps the remainder at just the right temperature so that it doesn't become bitter in a few hours. Now I need to see how well the pot holds up to daily use. So far, so good.
